Red Fire Shrimp
Neocaridina davidi var. red
The classic. Bright red, robust, easy to reproduce and the reason why the fisherman never went fishing again.
All colours are the same type: Neocaridina davidi. Robust, suitable for beginners, can be kept without heating and easy to reproduce. The difference lies mainly in the colour. You can buy them from Swiss breeders on the free marketplace, usually from ten animals per group, because shrimp are quieter in groups.

Neocaridina davidi var. red
The set idea for the first catch: ten animals of one colour and some moss. How a seller puts together his set is stated in the listing.
Neocaridina davidi
Red, yellow and blue as a set idea: three colours for three small tanks. How a seller puts together his set is stated in the listing.
If this is your first time keeping shrimp, take Red Fire or Yellow Fire. Both are cheap, extremely robust and reproduce reliably. If something goes wrong with it, it will hurt less than with a Bloody Mary.
Wil is a colour that immediately stands out in the tank Blue Dream the right choice. It needs a dark substrate, otherwise the blue will look pale. For a light tank with light sand Black Rose more exciting.
One tank, one colour. Different Neocaridina colours cross each other. The offspring become brown and wild in colour again after two to three generations. This doesn't harm the animals, but your colour is gone. If you want colourful, keep the colours in separate tanks or consciously use them colourful mix and accept the mixed race.
As a rule of thumb: ten animals for a tank from 20 litres, twenty for 40 up to 60 litres. Less than ten is not a group, but a random selection. Statistically, ten animals have both sexes present and they show their normal behaviour instead of hiding. There is little upper limit; Neocaridina regulate their density themselves via the food supply.
All information about water parameters, tank size and tank mates is available on each species page. You can buy the animals from Swiss breeders on the Marketplace. If you want more detail, read this shrimp care guide.
