Shipping in Switzerland
We ship food from Japan ourselves. Shrimp come directly from marketplace sellers.
Garnelenfischer ships only food from Japan itself. Chaotic Shrimp is in development and not yet available to order. Garnelenfischer does not ship dwarf shrimp: they come from Swiss breeders on the Marketplace, and you arrange shipping or collection directly with the individual seller.

How a marketplace seller typically ships
Garnelenfischer does not prescribe a method for sellers, but Swiss breeders have established a practical standard: a double water bag with moss to cling to, padding, a polystyrene box, a heat pack below 10 degrees or cool pack above 28 degrees, and shipping only on working days. The individual listing or seller profile sets out what applies, including shipping costs.
One point applies to each live animal shipment. Be at home. A parcel held overnight at a post office because nobody was available is the most critical situation for the animals. The guide explains what to do about shipping damage: Shrimp arrived dead and in the Marketplace guidelines.
What to prepare before shrimp go in
Before the animals arrive, your tank should have been running for at least three to four weeks, the filter should be cycled and nitrite should be zero. Have a bucket, airline tubing and a clip ready so you can start the Drip method straight away. Allow two to three hours.
Are you thinking about ordering from the EU? The guide explains what import taxes, customs duties and customs clearance fees are added, and why the often-quoted 150 franc limit does not apply to parcels Order shrimp from the EU to Switzerland.
Legal information about shipping animals
Dwarf shrimp of the genus Neocaridina are invertebrates and fall outside the Swiss Animal Welfare Ordinance, which applies to vertebrates, cephalopods and walking decapod crustaceans. The usual standards for live animal shipments still apply: short transit times, temperature protection, labelled parcels and shipping only on working days.
